Going Mobile to Prepare for Your Presentation

cell phonesYour mobile device can be a handy little thing to employ during your speech preparations.

Here are a couple of quick tips that can help you streamline your practice rounds. First, time your run throughs. If you are rehearsing for a 30-minute speech, for example, a 20-minute rehearsal time is about right. Time has a funny way of distorting  during the real thing, so shorter is better.

Another handy use for your device: Record your practice sessions on video, then review your performance. The recording doesn’t need to be broadcast quality. You just need an idea of how you look while you speak. You may pick up on anything from an annoying nonverbal habit to an overused phrase.

Of course, once you hit the stage, be sure to turn your device off. After all, you don’t want to be the one whose ringing phone interrupts the proceedings.

What other uses have you found for your mobile device as you steel yourself for a presentation?
